Bill Gates Investing in Ethanol Fuel

The world's richest man Bill Gates of Microsoft seems to have made the ethanol fuel industry just a little bit more legitimate, investing $84 million in the Californian based Pacific Ethanol company.
Pacific Ethanol aims to become the West Coast's leading marketer and producer of renewable fuels. With a product line that currently emphasizes clean-burning corn-based ethanol fuel.
The president of Pacific Ethanol Neil Koehler said in an interview with Reuters news said that "It's not only had a huge impact on our operations, but it's had a huge ripple effect on the whole industry. It has really caused a stir in the ethanol industry that Bill Gates has stepped up and said: 'I believe in ethanol.'" CNN

What is Humanity’s worst Invention?

The Ecologist magazine in the United Kingdom has £2,500 up for grabs. Readers are asked to submit a 2000 word essay discussing the topic of "What is Humanity’s worst Invention?".
Essay criteria: responses must be in English, up to 2,000 words. Entries will be judged on originality, critical thinking, clarity and the ability to spark debate.
The winning essay will also be published in the Ecologist Magazine.
It's a challenging topic as some of our best inventions are also our worst. Without putting much thought into it, I came up with these few.. cars, guns, bombs, religion.. ..
